What are the dolls that are blank and then artists create them and some can be very rare and worth a lot?

Somebody was telling me they had one worth a lot, but I have no idea what the dolls they are talking about. They are collectible and the ones they send you when you order are random. You could get one worth a lot. What are they. I think the name might have started with a "D".
I don't think it's a Dresden doll since those are from the 1800's. I believe these are currently still being sold. Thanks for trying.
