Need help fixing my alto saxophone?
I'm really OCD about my saxophone, and about a year ago, when i was a senior in highschool, my sax fell off a chair because we had to leave for a fire drill. I took it to a repair shop but when i got it back it sounded bad, it sounded tight and pinched like a bag pipe (not like a sax is supposed to sound). Now i haven't played in over a year and it's really starting to eat at me, but when ever i look at my sax i know it won't play the way it used to, and since it's been so long since i've played i won't remember what it "felt" like to play. Basically I wan my sax back to way it was before it was damaged, but it's been so long i'm afraid i'll never get it back to way it was.
What do all you veterans recommend i do. (This post might not make sense and have a lot of errors but i'm dumping 12months of guilt into one post without making it into a harry potter book.)
Just speak to the guy who did the repair and be honest about how you feel and how he can recommend what is to be done. There are many variables to tone, did you change the mouthpiece? Worst case scenario, sell it and get something else that sounds good.
